Heartfelt letter from Merrill, April 2020
Dear Friends Forever,
“We can make our plans but the outcome is in God’s hands.” (Prov 16:1)
Someday, when it is wise, we will resume travel. In the meantime, trips are being postponed or cancelled until we can safely proceed.
In the 1840’s and 1850’s, many Americans walked west across this nation to settle the Oregon Territory. Before families departed, they knew the expected death rate (mostly from Cholera) was 10%. We have faced grim hardships in the past – we are facing it again now.
Many of you have heard my Sunday Morning Thoughts of the Day as we traveled by bus. In those instances, I have given the “soft sell” for you to consider spiritual things. At this point in the virus pandemic, it is time to “ask for the order”.
In the game of life, we Land Cruisers are in the 8th or 9th inning. Whether the virus affects us or not, eventually something will end our lives. As proof, the 90% who survived the Oregon Trail are all gone.
I urge you to trust Jesus Christ for your walk through this fire and for your eternal life. Ask Him into your life and wipe your sins off of your chart. Ask Him to become the Lord of your life and to save you. I promise He will do it at the very instant you ask!! Hopefully the COVID-19 will soften hearts and open eyes and people will see the King of Kings and Lord of Lords is our help and our salvation.
I love you. I miss you. Please accept the free offer of Jesus Christ. Contact us if you need help or have questions.
By making this important decision, not only will be friends forever, but Friends Forever Eternally Together.
Deuteronomy 31:8: “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.”
Love,
Merrill
